Position Summary

The Vice President / Payment Operations is responsible for managing all payment related services, ensuring delivery of payment related projects, partnering and responding to internal and external compliance oversight requests. The incumbent will develop short / long-term Payment Operations strategies and tactical plans that align with, and support, the operating model. He or She will lead the unit responsible for daily operations of CNOB’s Digital Bank , Payment Operations including, but not limited to, RTP (Real Time Payments), FedNow, Debit Card Processing etc. This will be required to set objectives, key performance metrics, and priorities and will also manage structure and processes that support the ConnectOne Bank’s payment strategies and will be responsible for management of key payment related third parties.


Manage Digital Bank vendor relationships, and work with vendor to optimize customer experience and onboarding rates, ensure adherence to service level agreements
Manage the payment processing function and supporting business metrics and indicators for a best in class payments service
Supervise, schedule and prioritize tasks and responsibilities of the Payment services department staff to meet workload and scheduling needs of the department
Recruiting, training, coaching, performance monitoring, performance evaluations and discipline of payment services staff as needed to fulfill the goals of the Department
Work in collaboration with the Wire and Electronic Banking Leads to ensure that payments streams are fully tested and vetted.
Serve as the escalation point for payment issues, and work closely with the payments and front-line teams to quickly resolve issues
Ensure adequate controls are maintained with regards to regulatory compliance
Manage Debit Card and Alternative Payments vendor relationships, and work with vendors to optimize customer experience and authorization rates, ensure adherence to service level agreements
Identify and drive initiatives to prevent and reduce losses related to customer verification, billing and payments
Ensure timely and professional communication with internal and external customers to minimize losses in all business lines
Support Audit and Compliance as needed
Partner and influence development of strategies around Payment Operations technologies
Evaluate, recommend and develop new strategies and more efficient processes related to Payment Operations
Identify, justify and support new projects related to the overall improvement of Payments Operations, serving as a key stakeholder for all aspects of Payments project life cycle (design, development, testing and implementation)

Skill and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and or equivalent industry experience
7+years related payment operations experience
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and have the ability to facilitate discussions and be assertive while promoting a collaborative and partnering environment.
Must be able to give focused attention to details and deliver high quality work while managing competing priorities.
Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment leading and controlling multiple projects simultaneously.
Must possess a strong sense of urgency, decisiveness and proven ability to work under pressure.
